Hooket LT's on lowered car?

I have my Z28 lowered an inch with Hotchkis lowering springs, I really want a set of the Hooker LT's but was wondering what kind of clearance issues there would be because my car is lowered.

Does any of you have LT's on lowered cars?

You'll have issues over speed bumps or steep inclines, I can guarantee it.. it is all about the size of your ypipe also.

At stock ride height I would scrape going fast over speed bumps, but I also had 4" exhaust..

You will have problems scraping on speed bumps etc! Most people say its the ypipe which is true the ypipe does hang lower and scrape alot more but i scrape my headers whenever i have people in the car... Tuesday I was going over a speed bump in the parkin lot at school and they are painted yellow soy ou can see them i guess... well it scraped on the header and the whole ypipe... I got under the car and i had yellow scraping on the collectors of the headers... This is at stock ride height... I would never lower my car with Hooker long tubes.

I know a lot of people who are lowered and have Hooker LT's, I'm soon to be one. They don't camplain about any thing besides the fact that they have to take it extra carefull over speed bumps and shiite.

So it seems to be either NO or just be careful, so is the power gain worth all of the aggrivation?

Also, should I have my own y-pipe made or buy the Mufflex?

If you are going todo it then get a ypipe made... I have a mufflex and it scrapes all the time. headers scrape whenever i have a passenger or two and no I'm not fat only weigh 125lbs... But yeah get a custom ypipe to get it tucked up a little higher...

Mufflex y-pipe and stock springs here. No scrape issues on speedbumps so far. Just slow down before you get to the speed bumps...you can't barrel over them at 30!

Looking into getting the DMS springs soon.

I have MACs and a Pro Kit and yes I have clearance issues. LTs are nice, but you may have to compromise on HP or looks. A buddy of mine has LTs on a TA with stock springs and his clearance is not that great (about what mine is lowered).

Hooker LTS

I have the LTs on a stock height car and can't imagine lowering it after looking at the clearance for the headers and y-pipe. Just my 2c. I really do like the look of a lowered F-body though

I do just have the Hotchkis springs, they are a 1 inch drop not an 1.5 like the Eibach, so it might not be as bad.

I would consider the DynaTech headers if I knew what kind of power difference there would be between them and the Hookers?

Also, how much power difference would there be between the Hookers and the MAC's?

This is ine of those things that when you start modifying cars, you have to take what comes with the territory.
In my case, I knew going in my Grotts longtubes will hit. I have Eibach springs. The y-pipe is what's taken most of the hits, or should I say scrapes. Just on inclined driveways, and speed bumps. The headers have not touched anything. Just very minor brushes if that.
Once you memorize the clearance on your car, you'll be fine.
Another thing I found out, it won't clear most oil change lifts/bays.
That's one of the things I've always had problems with. Unless you do your own oil change, you may want to check before somebody drives your car to a bay on any oil change shops.

I would prefer the most possible power, but if there is alot of ground clearance difference between the Hookers and the DynaTech, I might consider it.

It wouldn't bother me as much just the y-pipe hitting, I would hate for the headers to hit though.

More opinions please, but right now I am definitely leaning towards the Hooker LT's.

Diggin up an old post....

Got a 2" on my LT1 and Installing Dynatech Longtubes, they look good and the clearance is about the same as my ground effects.
