Does the Hooker y pipe bolt right up to Jet Hot long tubes? I am going to get the uncoated pipe and just get some heat treated paint up to 1800 degrees. I was looking at Tbyrne Motorsports, but I'm not sure how fast they are at shipping. Can anyone link me to a site that has these regular Hooker/Jet Hot y's for cheap? This is for a 97 LT1. Also, is the Hooker y pipe 3"?

And it bolts right up to Jet Hots? Sweet.

 

Mine had to be modified a little to bolt up to the headers, but it fit pretty good. And I have the uncoated aluminized one and it isn't even showing a hint of rust....

should bolt right up. just so ya know, if your not in a huge hurry, and can afford overnight shipping i'd wait until you got the headers on the car before you order the y pipe. because apparently jet hots are having problems clearencing the bottom of the car/tranny corssmember with that hooker y pipe..alot of people are getting a custom pipe fitted.
or wherever you get it from, make sure u can return it. (if necessary)

 

Yeah they are . I hate the Hooker y-pipe, mine is hitting the torque arm. I plan to have a custom y-pipe made when I do my heads/cam install.

 

Mine ended up being about 1 1/2" too wide when put together. One side bolted up fine went to the other and it was barely half way over the other header. Had to trim both flow tubes to get it to fit right. Still banges the bottom of the floor but i can fix that with a crowbar i think.

 

I'll just get the Hooker than..I can't afford the Jet Hot 230 dollar pipe. Any tricks/mods I will have to make as you guys say it may not fit right?

 

i thougt my pipe wouldnt fit either, it landed about in the middle of the one header. i just took it apart and put it back together and it worked fine. slide the pieces apart and it gets wider. or put the collecter extender pieces on the headers first and work your way back, it will go together trust me, it just looks like it wont. it is just a matter of finding the right adjustment. i have the stainless works aluminized pipe and it still looks brand new after one year. i had to take a big hammer to the drivers side of the y pipe and dent the top of it so it would stop hitting stuff.

 

Mine bangs also. I trimmed a bit off the tranny member but I still need to lose a half inch before it will clear. I may take a torch to it and reshape it a bit. Not sure. I may also try to just buy the jet hot pipe later.
I fired the LE2 383 for the first time tonite so I need to get an exhaust and ditch the loud mouth cause I just put the "LOUD" in loudmouth....
