Hooker vs. GMMG

I now have changed my mind about true duals and decided to go with a normal catback. Im deicding between getting the hooker now or saving and getting the gmmg later. In how many years will the hooker rust out im in northern nj and it is a daily driver. What do you think hooker or gmmg?

Just do a Google or other search for "chambered exhaust".
There are at least two mfgs of chambered exhaust components
so you don't have to spend big $$$ if you really want that
sound.

Of course I say GMMG, but thats cause I own it and love it. I have heard both and I definately like my GMMG better. You wont find another exhaust that is quite the same. GMMG also uses T-304 Stainless steel which will outlast the Hooker's aluminumized piping and prolly even your car. I have seen many aluminumized set-ups here in Ohio that have alot of rust spots. For the price, well dont buy GMMG new unless your daddy is a brain surgen, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for. You can find them used for $400-500. The sound is astonishing. Here is a thread I wrote about GMMG: http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=221456 If you live I a climate with snow and snow means salt, stay away from anything that isnt Stainless Steel. Good luck deciding, Hooker is a great catback, but I prefer something with a little more attitude for my Z/28.

I agree, stay away from the aluminized systems if you can. I had a Random Technology system for about 3 years. Sound was awesome and there really wasn't much rust - on the outside. I got rearended recently and the body shop didn't do that good of a job realigning the exhaust pipes, so I took matters into my own hands. After removing the I-pipe, a pile of rust wound up on the floor. All of it from the inside. I then removed the rest of the system and the same thing happened. Rust was just flowing out of this thing!

I've since switched to a Magnaflow. All stainless, never going back.

IMO the GMMG is the best cat-back. But it comes at a price obviously. If you save for the GMMG, you most certainly wont be dissapointed. However I like hooker as well. Depends on weather or not you want to save for that little extra performance.
