hooker vs. flowmaster

i have a 94z with no cat and a flowmaster catback(80 series), it making this terrrible popping sound, if i switch to a hooker will it limit the popping, or at least make it a better sounding pop without quieting it down tooo much. I LOVE IT LOUD!

Flowmaster is known for making some "popping". You probably won't get as much "pop" with the Hooker, but you definitely won't get the same tone and sound. I have the 80 series as well, and if you are like me, you love the interior sound. Sounds great! That's the only reason I'm afraid of switching to true dual Bullets, but I know it'll sound better on the outside of the car. Anyways, it really just depends on whether performance or sound is more important to you. Performance wise, go with Hooker...sound wise, go with Flowmaster. Don't get me wrong though, Hooker sounds nice...I just prefer the sound of a Flowmaster.

jeff i also have the flowmasters and would not trade them for any other muffler, i get complements on the sound of my car all the time, and its pretty much stock. As for your prob, i do get a small poppling sound when i downshift. If its really load then your prolly backfiring. In which case it would nopt be the muffler's fault. you might have a small exhaust leak situated where its getting just enough ogxyen into your exhaust thats its igniting the remaining fuel comming out of your cylnder's. You might also simply be running more rich than you should be. That can be stemmed from a lot of different items. i.e. ect, map, tps, egr.

Good luck Mike
