Hooker or Loudmouth?
Hooker or Loudmouth?
I'm going to be getting a catback soon, and I've decided on Hooker or Loudmouth. Is Loudmouth still reasonably loud with the cat still on? I'm leaning towards the loudmouth right now because I want a mean tone. If anyone has soundclips of Hooker or Loudmouth on a stock LT1, please link em in this post.
I have heard the Hooker catback and they certainly sound sweet.
I don't personally have one though so I can't give you a full review of my experiences with one. I just installed a Magnaflow catback on my car Friday.
I have heard people complain about the Loudmouth being too loud and ending up swapping the resonator for a Dynomax bullet muffler to tone it down a bit.
Good luck deciding!

I had the LoudCrap on my car before and I hated it. That was before I installed headers and got rid of my cat. The highway drone was unbearable. I would definetly go with hooker that is what I have now and it sounds mean as hell. I love it and if you plan on doing headers and no cat it will sound even better. Go with hooker, trust me.
Actually they had a Hooker catback sound on there with an LT1. It does sound pretty damn good given the quality of the clip. Borla also sounds good, but I'm not spending 600 dollars on exhaust. 260 for a Hooker sounds good.
The reason I was wanting Loudmouth is because I heard it on a LS1 Z28 over the weekend with LT's and no cat. The tone was amazing. And yes, I realize LT1s and LS1s sound completely different.
Looks like it'll be a Hooker.

yeah i was trying to decide on those two also. I wanted the car to be loud and mean sounding. But i don't want it to loud where it starts to bug me. From what i hear the hooker isn't much louder then stock at idle. But it sounds real good at wot. It sounds a lot smoother also. Besides I plan on getting headers anyways. So i decided on the hooker.

The hooker sounds great in that clip. And so does the LM. I hear it's too loud with headers, even with gutting cats I hear it's too loud.

I have LM on stock manifolds and i still have my cats and I like how it sounds. It's loud, but not unbearable. The highway drone is a little annoying at times, but the look on peoples faces when you punch it next to them makes up for it
. My brother has hooker on his formula and it sounds good too, not near as loud but very nice sounding.

That just threw me for another thinking curve cuz I want that. I want people to be like "WHOA!" when I go by them. If the hooker will do that, then I'll get it. If not, then I'm saving up for the LM.
I just bought a LM last thursday. I cant wait to get it on. The guy sold it to me because he thought it was too loud. I have a drop top so i am hoping its not unbearable. I am not doing hardly any mods to my car. So i dont think it should be too bad, and besides i do listen to music. I wanted to go for that shock factor when you blow by a civic.

I have a LM and i'm in the process of installing LT's with no cats, but i think i'm going to install a collector silencer in the y-pipe to quiet it down some, but we'll see once i 1st fire it up
and yeah it definately has a "WHOA" factor to it when you go WOT past an unsuspecting person
stainless steel, choice of tips, mean sounding, for ruffly $300 it cant be beat plus it out flows ANY other aftermarket catback out right now

let me tell you.. when a person goes "WHOA", most of the time, its not in awe. its usually in disgust.
i personally believe that it takes a special breed of person to appreciate a good tone of a loud v8. most people.. don't like it.
