Hooker fellas...

Where did you your system from? I want a Hooker exhaust, not totally sure where to go. You guys satisfied with the stock sound? How about if you got LT's?

2, do I have to purchase anything different because of the dual cats? Also, when I throw on Long Tubes, do I have to purchase high flow cats or can I just move the ones already on the car?

Re: Hooker fellas...

in reference to part 2, you're gonna want a catted Y pipe, which AFAIK, is going to be a custom job as i haven't seen any premade. i notice you're in NJ as well, might i suggest mufflex if you get custom. i was quoted an incredibly fair price to have one made up, all i needed to do was supply two cats. good luck and nice bands

Re: Hooker fellas...

So I can't just move them? I have to purchase new ones and have them fabricated into my Y? Where did you get your price quote from?

Mufflex is the place? Where the freakin is that located? L0L

I'm a rookie at this so...

I want to rid myself of my ugly "OK" sounding exhaust and get to something worth seeing/listening too!! Then, i'll get the headers in a few months and call it a day for some sound until I get my cam installed!! :-D

Re: Hooker fellas...

new ones aren't as expensive as you'd think, i am pretty sure it's called performance curve on ebay, has carsound cats for 30 bucks a piece, new. i got the price quote directly from mufflex, www.mufflex-performance.com and they are based in trenton. best of luck with your exhaust setup

How about anyone else? Where did you get your Hooker System from?

Re: Hooker fellas...

a hooker muffler just replaces your stock muffler is good if you're on a budget but since it uses your stock tubing(2.75" i think) its still pretty restrictive

a hooker catback, like any other catback for lt1s, replaces all of the exhaust pipe from the y-pipe flange back with 3" aluminized tubing.

Re: Hooker fellas...

So a Hooker Cat is on the Y? Or before it?

What are the price differences between the two? Gains Different? Sound different?

Re: Hooker fellas...

Got mine from summit. Ran a single cat at the end of an ORP on long tubes for 6 months. Then cut it off and put a cutout there. Sounds great.

the y-pipe comes to its "Y' and forms one pipe, a little dowstream of this junction should be a slip fitting where the rest of the exhaust connects to it. The cat back is not part of the y-pipe, but is everything downstream of the y-pipe fitting after the Y-junction

this system is different from yours in that it only has one cat at the end of the y-pipe, where yours has two in the intermediate pipes before the Y-junction, but its very similiar.

the slip-joint fitting is labeled 8 on the drawing, this is the beginning of the catback, all the the tubing SE of that fitting is the "catback system". the y-pipe is the pipe labeled 1

also the "catback system" does not include any catylitic converters at all, but is rather the exhaust tubing after the cat.

Re: Hooker fellas...

So which one am I looking for?

Hooker Competition Header-Back Exhaust Systems
Hooker Competition Manifold Back Exhaust Systems
Hooker Competition Universal Exhaust Systems
Hooker Super Competition Cat-Back Exhaust Systems
Hooker Super Competition Header-Back Dual Exhaust Systems

I am going to be putting Long Tubes on it... does that come into play?

Re: Hooker fellas...

You want the super-competition catback exhaust (aerochamber). It will come back to where your long tube Y-pipe goes, plus one foot (that you will cut off) and work great.

Re: Hooker fellas...

So then this is how the exhaust should go?

Header, Hooker Catback, Y Pipe, Hooker Muffler?

So if I buy the Super Comp Catback exhaust...

I'll be getting the part that the header goes into, that goes into the Y Pipe... then the pipe after the Y Pipe?

Re: Hooker fellas...

No it goes from headers, Y pipe, cat back, muffler.

One header on each side of engine. Those "Y" together to form one pipe. Then goes your cat back pipe to the muffler.

Rusted things are headers. The Y is the pipe shaped in a Y (no cats on mine). After it joins into one pipe, http://atljar.com/undercar3.jpg it follows the length of the car, over the axle and to the muffler.

If you buy the aeroChamber catback, you get everything from the stock cat convertor, to the rear of the car. When you finally buy headers, you will need to replace your stock Y pipe at that time, since it wont work with aftermarket headers.

Good luck
