this is a buddys car, the popping sound when the revs drop are partially from the gutted cats but a tune will take it away.

It will be raspy, and quite a bit louder with out the cat(s). I went from a hooker to a hooker and gutted cats. It got quite a bit louder. I would rather have just had the cat there because it wasnt so high pitched and was more a deep rumble, but not as loud. After going to long tubes and an off road y pipe, it sounds more like a 5.0 mustang. That may be good or bad to you.

It will be more raw sounding and the exhaust will stink... I changed mine from a high flow cat to a pipe through the cat because I thought it was too quiet... I like the way it sounds now.

Re: Hooker Cat-back without cats...hows that sound?

I just put a cat back in mine, it was quit a bit louder without it but not overly loud. The main reason I put it a cat back in was I got tired of trying to keep the back end of the car clean, my car is white and without a cat it turned yellowish brown and was a bitch to clean.

everyone has mentioned what pretty much happens, some may not see the exact same results but here goes.

It will be louder, and raspy.
Your exhaust will stink.
You have to keep cleaning the rear of your car/tips.

You have to take in to consideration if its worth the few extra hp

my old car had a gutted cat with the hooker cat back, noticably louder than my friend who just had the hooker cat back

So that's why my rear bumper gets full of soot. I figured it had something to do with having no cats but no one could confirm it for me.

Re: Hooker Cat-back without cats...hows that sound?

I have the hooker catback, but replaced the cat with a bullet muffler. It sounds deep, and not loud at all when idling and cruising. There is no rasp ever, and only pops of I gas it during the first 30 seconds or so after starting the car when it's cold. There no popping ever other than that. It really does sound SWEET.

You can see some pics on my website.
