Homemade CAI Help

Anyone here ever make a homemade CAI setup with some PVC pipe? A kid I know did it, but I was wondering if any of you ever made one for an LT1 and how many/what size pipe/ how much pipe.... would you use to do this. I heard it works better or as good as the SLP setup.

first thing i did with my car was make a sewer pipe CAI ..
i used 4" PVC .. but if i had to do it again i'd do it with 3" to fit the MAF properly and not have to mess with the ABS unit

just put 2 bends in it .. a 4"x9" conical K&N sitting parrallel to the ground ...

u can kinda see my ugly one here

i made one with some three inch pvc, a 45 degree elbow, a k&n cone, and some rubber couplers. really easy. sits out of engine bay so it doesn't collect hot air. easy ghetto mod.

I used some of that gray colored pvc electrical conduit, its a 3 1/2 OD. I cut about a 3rd of it off and mounted it with the k/n filter behind the headlight assembly. I fab'd a heatshield to isolated it from the engine, and a airdam underneath to direct air to it. I did have it rigged up with the filter in the bottom but I wanted it where it was easy access for filter inspection. The car still feels as fast as it was before to me .

go to jegs or summit or jcwhitney and get a 90* mandrel bent pipe (3 or 4 inch), and buy the biggest K&N filter you can find that will fit. Then go to HomeDepot and get a PVC pipe rubber coupler to attach it to your MAF. If you paint it black, I swear that it will look as good as any kit out there, and it will work just as well.

$20 pipe
$35 filter
$8 coupler

Total = $63

I'll try to get some pics of the one I made.
