Holy hell is it really this hard...

To take out the motor and transmission? I would say a have a tad more then a basic knowledge of cars but this is the first time switching a motor and transmission by mysef. Im doing everything im my garage with the car just high enough to wiggle the transmission out which makes it a bit harder but still... I have pretty-much everything disconnected from the motor and it is a complete mess. Wires, hoses, and sensors everywhere! I don't know what the hell goes where. Welp, i was just wondering if you f-body pro's had any good tips or advise for me when putting the new motor & tranny in. Bolting the bellhousing to the block seems like its going to be impossible. Anyhow, thanks in advance for anything you might have for me!

Also, is their a special tool required to remove the fuel lines from the fuel rail? If so whats it called?

Thanks again.

Fuel line disconnect tool. They are super cheap and any parts store will have them. Like 7 bucks. Still a real PITA to get them apart. I suggest you unbolt the rail from the intake (4 bolts) and then pry/wiggle the entire rail with injectors out of the intake. You can leave the rail and injectors all hooked up to the lines then, and never have to disconnect it.

Going back together...label everything with tape and notes right now whiles its fresh. The tranny bolts are best done with a 3 or 4 foot extension and a swivel socket on the end. Good luck

If you find that you need to remove the fuel rail from the lines, Lisle makes this fuel line disconnect tool.

Re: Holy hell is it really this hard...

Yea i disconnected the fuel rail once i realized that their were no bolts on nothing i could do atm. Ended f-ing up an injector and loseing afew clips, oopse I guess i learned my lesson for when i pull it out of my good body/bad motor. A bit of dirt fell into the injector holes, i have them all plugged up now but is that something im going to regret when i first start the car up? Also, i got the transmission out, the pressure plate looks brand new. Is it new or is it something that just dosint get dirty? It was a wrecked car i bought for the drivetrain, car only has 58k on it. The heads look new aswell(from the back of the motor) and the block is fairly clean and painted black. Does this all sound like factory work or someones doing? Sorry for all the questions, you all have saved me from numerous breakdowns and mindbogglers. Your my heros.
