Holley Throttle Body

I Have A Holley 52mm Throttle Body. Does Anyone Know How To Install It On An Automatic Trans Car So The Trans Shifts Right?

Re: Holley Throttle Body

It installs just like the stock 48, but you need to have the line pressure increased in the PCM so you don't burn up the automatic.

I dont understand why the TB would burn up the trans. Could you explain because I am getting ready to put in a 52mm Holley and I was unaware of anything like that, I thought it was a simple replacement.

Re: Holley Throttle Body

I don't know about burning up the trans. The mph shift points in the pcm are plotted by the throttle position sensor vs rpm. The TPS is on the throttle body and measures how much the blades are open. With the larger blades more air gets in with the same throttle position. More air, more power, the faster you hit the mph to cause a shift at that rpm. Anyway; I believe this causes the car to shift sooner across the board. Which, for an A4 is a bad thing since you lower your shift rpm. I don't think it's a big enough difference to warrant a reflash unless you have other mods you want to update in the pcm

Close but, At the same opening in degrees the 52mm is flow more air and making a bit more power than the stock tb. but if you don't reprogram the tranny thanks the car is only making 60% of the power but maybe it's really making 70% so the pcm is telling the tranny to shift like it's making the 60%. And over time will wear tranny out. Another words the tranny will not be applying proper pressures.

The First Time I Installed It A Year Ago It Caused The Trans To Shift Really Late. It Was Stuck In First Gear. So It's Been Sitting In My Garage But I'd Like To Use It.

Im no mechanic so bear with me,but my step-son installed the infamous whistling BBK 52mm throttle body on my 97 Z a couple of years ago--Didnt notice any shifting problems, just make sure you have your TPS adjusted right--I heard with a 58mm you may have a shifting problem--Dwayne
