Holding engine up with chains, where?
Where do I strap the chains? Should I just wrap 1 chain around drom the bottom behind the oil pan and back up to the cherry picker and another in front of the motor but where should the chain sit underneath? Will the crank be bent if I place it in that area?
I'm going to start pulling my dented Kmember soon and that seems to be my only question. And I don't want to remove the motor and transmission while I do it.
Thanks guys.

I usually use a bolt in the head on each side, one front one back. If the intake is off I use bolts through there, if not there are holes on the front and back of the heads.
Get a longer bolt if you need to, get plenty of thread up in there before you start lifting

The only thing from the engine I am removing is the air intake tube. So it will be a complete motor still in there. Fireman told me to just use the coil bolts as they are pretty heavy duty and to not worry about holding the motor from the rear as the tranny mount will do that. It makes sense.
Thanks, good idea.
Are there any heavy duty cables, kind of like on weight machines, that I could snake through the manifolds and hook onto the hoist chains? That seems like it might be easier and less time consuming (other than spending the time to find some at a store) than unbolting something. What do you think?
