Hmm MSD Coil has rust on the terminal...

Hmm MSD Coil has rust on the terminal...
Where the coil wire plugs into it, its nice and rusted. What should I do? Im sanding it down right now with some sandpaper, anything else I can use?
Do you guys think this could be causing my problems with running rich, loss of high RPM power, and lots of smoke outa the exhaust(I guess from running rich)?
The coil prolly has about 25k miles on it. MSD coil.
