High rpm crap out
High rpm crap out
OK! ladies and gentleman the problem has been solved! I just went ahead rebuilt my motor! I put in a 383 Stroker and replaced the clutch and the OPTI and it runs just fine now! a rebuild cures all haha. now it seems im running too lean, dangit
Ok lets say when i romp on it it runs through the powerband fine and strong until it gets to high rpm s lets say about 4800 and beyond it just kinda stops picking up power and i noticed a stutter/ hesistation too. im still learning bout these cars or else i wouldnt be asking you fellas. also what can throw your tachometer off? Thanks Cory

Get an aftermarket coil (MSD, Accel, etc.) The coils in the pre-96 cars arent all that great and will cause some misfires high in the rpm range. This was happening to my 95 as well and when I went with the MSD coil this problem went away.
really iwant nothing but the best parts for the car, afterall you gotta pay to play. So you say MSD coil all the way huh. Prices ? what type of fuel filter as well ill throw that in too
Yeah, my MSD coil does the trick. Just get a cheapo fuel filter from AutoZone or your local parts store, it'll work just fine. You should also replace the coil wire while you're at it. See if your hesitation goes away with just the coil, if it doesn't, replace the wire. Coil wires are a very common cause of high-rpm misses.
Also this problem seems to be intermittent, I romped on it today and the car ran all the way through the powerband with no prob what so ever, but yesterday it took a bad dump on me high up in the rpm range again. I hope this can narrow the problem. If you guys could use any more info just let me know and ill post. Thanks a million Cory
i bought the car about a month ago and the fella i bought it from, said he changed the plugs and wires not too long ago (not sure when) but i asked what he used and he didnt know, just the cheapest ones he could find. You cant do that with these cars can you?

the cats not clogged I had a muffler shop torch a hole in it and look we saw nothing except that half the guts inside the cat have blown away, so real it s a half gutted cat, I really dont fell as if its the tranny doesnt fell tranny related at all to me more like a miss of some sort. so these NGK tr55 's are good for the car i dont mind paying the extra buck for something that is better. Thanks again for your help. Cory
