High Mileage Motor Oils.....

I'm probably starting a never ending thread here, but, as the clock on my LT1 steadily climbs, I am curious about high mileage oils. My car has been running Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0w-40 for quite sometime now, without problems. But, I am curious weither it would help in any aspect to switch to one of the high mileage oils like GTX High Mileage or something else.

The point of this thread is not opinion, its intention is to use actual oil analysis and experience. Thanks everyone

this is what I'm running in my Z. I have 132,000 on the clock. I am also running Molib 1 10-30. I didn't see any gains when I switched to 0-40. Lusc made a big difference in hot idle oil pressure for me. http://www.gimmelucas.com/osc/eshop/...?products_id=6

there was a huge write up on how lucas oil additives actually caused the oil to bubble up. I can't remember the full details, but it wasn't good.

The high mileage oils are pretty good, they are all synthetic blends actually. But if you've been using Mobil 1 0w40, you might as well stick with that, it'll give you better results.

A high mileage oil is something you'd want to use if you don't quite want to spend the money on synthetics anymore, but would like something that will offer a bit more protection than a cheap dino oil would.

Here is a link to an informative write up on Lucas. From what i get out of it the stuff is great for tractors and things of that sort where the RPMs arent so high. The lucas is able to stick to the parts during a slow moving pace. Now for higher RPM running engines the Lucas starts to foam up which isnt really good.

that's good to hear. I was just curious as to weither there was any advantage in changing to the high mileage blends. I'm having no problems at all with the 0w40, there's no such thing as too much protection for a high mileage motor like mine.

I second that on the Lucas, I heard tons of bad stuff about it from a mechanic friend of mine. I've been using M1 15W-50 in my high milage Lt1s, it ran great all the way until i sold both cars, now i have 60k on the motor so i use M1 10W-30 with some 15W-50 mixed in for the summer. Works a treat for me :-)
