hey I have a simple quick question about the LT1

QUESTION. . .
If you remove the radiator hoes or have a hole in them will the engine start and stay running?

I know eventually it will run hot but will it at least start? The reason I asked is I hade a hose burst and the car will start up but when I give it gas or let it sit for more them 10 seconds it shuts off. .

Yes, it will run fine until it overheats. You have another problem in there somewhere.

If your opti took a bath in coolant, that could easily be your problem.

visit his page...

thats a 97 with a front end conversion so its still an LT1 car!
I'd say replace the opti! if it overheated that bad you may have also blown a head gasket. check your oil dipstick for any muck, then do a compression test and see if it has good compression that will help eliminate a bad head gasket as well.

Autozone should have one that it rents out. It would be one of their loan-a-tools.

Yep that would be your best bet.
Its a very simple procedure to do yourself. If you can change the plugs then you can do a compression test. Good luck

true! if you have any headers installed then it should be easier than if you still have stock exhaust manifolds!
