I was going down the road a few minutes ago and all of a sudden my motor starts making a clacking sound that gets faster and louder with higher rpms. It sort of sounds like clacking rockers but not(dont know how to explain it) It does not sound like an exhaust leak and the gaskets are ok.. I took off the valve covers and all the rockers/springs are fine..... Any ideas?

 

Did you check your oil pressure? Maybe your oil pump went out. I hate to state the obvious stuff but sometimes those are the problems. Check your oil. Are you sure its your motor. Have you checked your tranny as well. Only clacking i can think of coming from your motor has to deal with no oil getting through the motor

Rod knock maybe? I was there a few weeks ago

 

umm yeah i just checked my oil and it is about 3quarters GONE....
It has been slowly dripping oil out the oil pan gasket but the oil level has been fine but now it is LOW... I am pretty sure now that i have spun a bearing or something... going to go drain the oil now and see if there is any metal in it...



EDIT: Well the oil looks to be ok(what was left of it....)
I found one of the oil leaks, it is coming from the sensor on the timing cover, the screw was loose, it broke off in the cover while trying to tighten it...

Fixed my coolant leak.

And i also found my missfire problem... One of the wires was barely connected to the opti and was about to come off....

I will readjust the rockers when i get up in the morning and see if that fixes the clacking.... I hope it does but from the lack of oil i'm kindof worried... Oil pressure was ok though so
