....So many choices...so little cash.

Cam is good, but you really need to choose carefully to get everything you want.

I'd say gears are up there too.....why not go with 3.73's? I'm getting ready to trade in my 3.42's for 3.73's.....you have NO idea how great the effect is gonna be!!!!!

ive been told from a friend to go w/ the 3.42's bc id be eating gas like a bitch with the 3.73's.......which they said is good for out of the hole, but the 3.42's will be good in the long run, just what they said

I would say put some 3.73's in it as well. I have a 3.73 gear in my 94 Z28 and it isn't hard on gas, and it pulls good all through the 1/4 mile.

If not the gears then I would get a set of headers before a cam.

If you can afford it....do it. As far as the gears go...... Presently, with my 3.42's I cruise at around 2500 rpm with 3.73's I imagine it will be aright around 3000 for the same speed. I do a LOT of highway out here, and as long as you're not TOO aggressive (a WIDE judgement call there) it's not that bad on gas. I drove from Canada down here to San Diego, and got good mileage...considering.

As I recently had to explain to an import driver
If you have to ask about gas mileage.....it's not for you.

save the gears until you break the rear. It'll happen just give it some time i've broken 2 stock rears(i get em cheap from a local junk yard). if i was you i'd do headers and a cam at the same time. both mods will complement each other very well. provided you have 3.23 gears at least or 3.42's which you may have already. the gears will be offset when you get ready for a converter when you take off at 3k rpm and have a 2.5 str or so you'll think you've been hit in the *** by a frieght train if you can hook (which will break the rear). the cam is all up to you the hot cam is good for the price but not the best cam ever for a stock heads car (its up to you) and it sounds lopey before a tune. so people will tell you've got it. as for headers i'd go long tubes that are coated. this is just my .02

i also wanted to put in some 1.6 rr's......thats why i was going for the complete LT4 kit...they do come with that right?....dont remember....anyways, about the headers, which L.T.'s would you consider?......and "not the best cam for a stock heads car", not the best in that it'll hurt my engine?, or not give me the power i want?....oh yeah, i want that lopey sound thanks
