Hesitation patch.. EGR easy to clean?
Okey well I have the regular stumble/surging at idle and was wondering how hard it is to clean your EGR/IAC things and what happens if you take them off? Ive heard of people doing it before. Im taking my car in to get insulated wires/new fuel filter and see if that helps.. ive had this problem for 2 years now.. =[ Ive found something that helps me out though if you just want to cruise around.. last night I put fuel injector cleaner in and then shifted to the lower Drive gear instead of the first one and the rough idles/stumbles were reduced greatly.. not sure if its just a coincidence though.. thanks
The EGR valve is pretty easy to clean. All you have to do is remove the nuts holding the valve to the rear of the intake, pull the valve off, then spray some carb cleaner in the valve and open and close it.
As for removing the EGR, you just leave the valve off and use a block off plate in its place. You'll also need 2 more plates to block the tube going to the exhaust manifold and the back of the intake. If your car is OBDII though, you'll get an SES light if you remove the EGR system.
