here comes the off season

So im gonna start saving and gathering up stuff for a nice spring. Im stuck between a few things. From where Im at i was thinking cam, converter, spray, are pretty much the next thing on the list to take the next step. The car is a daily driver and i have to deal with emissions so I was pretty set on going with the hotcam kit and I was getting ready to save up for that but then the converter issue kept itching at the back of my head. So Im not sure which way to go. The cam seems to be more affordable but in the end with a tune and what not it may add up. The Converter would be nice but its also a little up there in price. Plus I dont know which to get. I was thinking 2800 at the most. Spray would be the last on my list because getting that to run safely would cost near 1000. So I was wondering what you guys thought. With the mods I have. What would be a good step to take next. Any other suggestions are great.

Thanks

Go 3200 stall.

Get the stall first.

thanks for your feedback.. i really dont want to push my rear too much and I was really thinking of a 2800 stall max. I figured a cam might be healthier but then again i dont know much. I was looking around after reading your post and i Like the Yank street converter. 2800 stall at $450 and its a yank too. What do you think? Think my rear will hate my guts? My family cant afford too many car problems right now BUT my dad might be getting a new job with a SWEET pay increase and that will give me more room to **** up. No im not saying my parents pay for it but they make the initial payment and I pay them back through my paychecks and such. (like a loan)

My car's rear has survived the abuse of over 300 track passes, most on slicks. Half on the 2800 stall, and some more recently on the 3200 stall.

I've not used a Yank street converter so I can't give any feedback on that.

I <3 my Vigilante converter, maybe you can find one used on here somewhere. They're on here pretty often.

yea i hear A LOT about yank and vigilante. I hear more about yank on ls1tech. They say they are great for daily driving and have amazing quality. You got a pretty mean *** set up there and that makes me feel REALLY good. Ill look into the vigilantes and see what I can find. For my daily driver purposes I would really not like to go too high.

The car is scheduled to be meaner shortly with a 9" Ford rear w/ 4.11's and a built 4L60E with a 3800-4000 Vigilante

Good luck with your search!

Can't go wrong with the stall. Yank and Precision Industries make some of the best, but they will cost you a little bit of dough. Fuddle makes a decent converter in the 400-500 range. That would easily be cheaper then a Hotcam install.

If you want to start pricing, don't forget sticky tires and possible a tune (might have to change your shift points and you might have the well known OBDI high stall issue) with a stall (that should put you up near the price of a safe nitrous kit). Also, since it's a dd, say good bye to gas mileage; it's going to drastically decrease. Finally, I'm not sure how a stalled car would act on the emission rollers. If I had to guess, I'd say that it would put out more emissions (possibly fail) due to having to push it harder (with it doing a majority of the test in the stalled area). Don't get me wrong, a stall is great and I loved mine, but I'm trying to show you that it's more to consider than just ordering it and throwing it in.

i figured there was more to consider with them all. the stall i know theres the cooler.. i thought i could avoid the tune with a lower 2800 stall.
