One of the easiest installs to do. Make sure your motor is warm-cool (doh.) Take the radiator cap off to vent pressure, you can put it back on after pressure is vented (wait 3 secs). Just be prepared for a bit of coolant to spill out. Take old thermo out. Put new one in. Simple. All you have to remove is the intake elbow.

Make sure you cover the opti. Never wanna have anything spill on that.

If you want to do it without making a mess, drain some fluid out of the radiator, say like 1-2 qts of fluid should be fine. That way, you get the top level down, draining the upper coolant line so that there's nothing to spill on the opti when you remove the thermostat neck.

Follow Shoebox's link. Make sure you bleed the system after completion.
