Help!!! Whats the most cost efficient way to have a 10 sec lt1???

I currently own a 1999 Corvette, and im planning on getting rid of it for something much much faster. I wish i could make the vette my track car but obviously that would be a little expensive. So im looking to buy an LT1 Camaro to be my project. I would really like for the car to be running in the 10's and i was wondering what advice anyone could provide for in doing so the most costly way. Thanks!!

I doubt this is the right forum but I know a bit about your request.

Cheapest way to go 10's in an LT1. Buy the cheapest Z28/Formula or TA A4 hardtop you can find. Have the LT1 rebuilt. Heads/Cam combo for drag and a few stage nitrous system. have the trans built with a high stall TC. Find a race ready 12 bolt of Ford 9" rear end. Put on slicks and skinnies and you'll get 10's after some tuning.

After getting 10's you'll need a harness and full roll cage. Might as well work the suspension over and put the car on a diet. 9's won't be hard.

Not sure of your idea of cheap but that combo could cost $30K car included.

Other than a diff, why would it be more expensive? With the right heads/cam combo and a good tranny/clutch you could get fairly close to the 10's just because of God's gift to the small block world and because the race weight of a Vette.

You can get the vette there easier then a lt1 then you think. Full bolt on's will have that vette in the mid to low 12's. Add on nice no2 shot with a proper tune and your there.

I ran 10.80's with a stock LT1 shortblock, LE ported heads/cam, longtubes, stock rear with 3.42's, Th350 with a 3,500 converter and NX 150shot. The car was had Weld wheels with 26x11.5" ET streets and stock suspension. It's not hard to do with a good combo and a little n2o. later

Most cost effective way? Buy one that already runs that ET.

99 C5 won't be too difficult to get into the 10's. A nice head/cam combo and a 200 shot on good tires and some practice should do it.

A nice h/c combo on motor should be in the 10's, 9's on a 200 shot.

If it were that easy, more people would be doing it.
I think he might have been referring to the LS1/C5 application.
