help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
ok then like i was suggesting, headers and rockers...
later when you get more money, get a cam and valvesprings and retainers and lifters and whatnot
then, after all that, get the e-cutout

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
Based on the fact your on a limited budget, just go with nitrous. Your bottom end would handle a 100-150 with no problem. Look into the Harris speedworks kits (run about $399 4 the kit)- they are a supporting vendor. Get you a mallary 685, and fuel pressure saftey switch, bottle heater, and purge valve also.....the accessories will cost a little more money but worth it. This will do more than enough to take care of the zo6. With good traction, it should put you in the high 11's no problem for less than a 700-800 dollar total investment.
Cams and Heads are good, but you have to spend the money as this isnt something you want to cut corners on...which = $$$$

You could also do a gear change to 4.56s... that makes a pretty amazing difference
But you just got 373s, and you have an auto, so thats probably not gonna happen, haha.
Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
Mallory 685= an ignition box with window switch and timing retard built in....fuel pressure saftey switch= cuts nitrous if fuel pressure drops...purge valve= clears nitrous lines... bottle heater= keeps nitrous bottle at 900-1000psi so nitro hits nice and hard :-).... The nitrous kit can be installed by you, and will be a heck of a lot easier for you to do than the headers and rockers.....you will also more than likely have to change out your valve springs for the rockers. Call and talk to some of the nitrous people at Harris as they are a supporting vendor.
Your car on a good day should run mid to low 13's based on your current mods with good traction and 60ft. Tons of guys have done it.
Put the nitrous on, get good traction and 60ft which means sticky tires, and with a really good run= high 11's with the 150 shot. You will easily run low 12's at 117-120mph in the quarter. With you having an a4 car, the rear should be able to handle it better than a 6spd.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
you don't need new valvesprings for rockers. headers are a little tricky to install, but rockers are really easy. easier than nitrous.
i was assuming that you would install it all yourself. i'd imagine it would put you somewhere around 350rwhp, depending on the cam.

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
The stock valve springs are marginal for coil bind with 1.6 rockers. some have gotten by with no problems, and others have broke things. Safe insurance is to replace the valve springs

Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
if you are interested in learning more about the nitrous stuff, try going over to the nitrous message board. I am basically giving you my input based on money/power desired, and having my lt1 car and modding since 1995 back when there wasnt anything such as long tube headers....man it was harder to go fast back then ;-). Seriously, the nitrous would be the easiest way to get you where you want without emptying the bank account. Talk to some other people over there, and then make your decision based on their input too. To basically get 12's from motor, you need the supporting mods even if you just do a cam....ie. stall converter/headers/etc (which equals a pretty chunk of change).
Re: help!! want to get into 12's!!!!
by the way....u could take your current set up...add a stall converter, headers, and rockers and get some high 12's out of that, but your not going to get the power you will from the nitrous, and your going to have more money in the converter/headers and rockers, and may only be as fast as the zo6....nitrous will bust his a**
