As of the last week my car has developed a problem where it throws a code and I cant figure it out. I will be driving along, and if I give the car moderate throttle, the car will surge, sometimes backfire, then the SES light will show up. It doesnt seem to happen if I keep my foot light on the gas pedal.

The problem just started after I moved up to CT about a week ago. It made me skeptical that the problem has something to do with the cold temperature up here... but the car has never had issues running in the extreme cold before.
I wonder if it has to do with a temperature sensor, or maybe 02 sensors. Anyone had a similar issue? I tried taking the car by Autozone but they do not have the adapter necessary to read the code.
