Unhappy HELP! Rear end noise = No money for me.

Alright, I was sitting at a stop light by myself and launched kinda hard. I didn't feel any problem with acceleration but I heard two loud bangs and really felt those noises in the center council (sp?). At the next light I reved it a few times and then drove it home normally with no other noises. I have also been hearing a humming coming from the back of the car since I've owned it. Its not the pump cause it changes pitch with the power applied and only when accelerating and decelerating, not while crusing.

Now is my posi going out or did I screw up the ring gear or something? I dont know a whole lot about rear ends yet but this has me a little worried.

If you heard it in the console I'd check the Trans mount first. I just broke mine a couple of months ago sounded like a gun went off inside the car when I broke it. 20.00 fix in about a 1/2 hour. Hope this helps

You might have blown your pinion bearing. But you wouldn't be able to tell unless you tore your rear end apart. I would first check the trans mount, and then check the rear end if it's not the tranny mount. Hope this helps.
