help with project selection

Here is my dilemma. I have a 95 z28 convertible with 113,000 and I just blew a head gasket. I figured while I'm working on the engine I might as well do some other mods to increase the horsepower without going broke. I still want a daily driver that I could put some slicks on and take it to the track to see what she could do (not a full on drag car). I've been searching the posts for a few weeks now and I still can't come to a decision. I'm pretty sure I want to put a set of long tube headers on. I found a cheap price on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33631.
And definately a cam. I also found a cheap one on ebay.

But I don't know if I want to go any farther than that because I would have to reporgram the computer and things would start getting expensive and I'm in the middle of buying a house.
I found a set of GTP stage II heads from another member and a matching intake but he wants a little more than I have to spend and a 383 kit on ebay that sounds like a good price.

But then I might as well go with a bigger cam and 1.6 RR which is even going to be more money on top of reprogramming. I would hate to get started and not be able to finsih by convertible wheather (may around here).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I just wonder about how much hp would I make with just a cam and headers or if I went full out would it still be fun to go out on dates with?
