help problem with rocker install

ok so today i started to install lt4 springs and roller rockers. i used the info from shoeboxs site. I found TDC of cylinder #1 and changed springs ( i could feel valve hit piston) Everything was going great as I rotated and changed cylinder # 1, 8, 4, 3, then when I started the # 6 cylinder ( my hub pulley was again in the 12 o clock position) both valves fell below to where i cant grab them I can see them about a 1/4 inch below but cant lift them my magnet pen. I dont know if my hub is slightly off. when a vavle drops does it usually drop all the way? Would a stronger magnet work or would an air tool work? Thanks for your help Aaron

ohh that sucks big time. maybe have someone slowly rotate the engine counter clockwise so the piston comes back up while you hold the magnetic pen to keep the valve stem centered in the hole. i dont know. otherwise if you cant get it out your gonna have to take the head off.

Yeah, I would try very carefully and slowly rotating the crank and watch the valves at the same time (if they start to fall lower, go the other way and also make sure nothing gets in a bind). Very strange that it would be ok for #1 and not for #6. That does not really make sense. Are you sure you are actually working on #6 and not another cylinder?

I am sure I am working on 6 third from the front on pass side. I turned the hub slowly and nothing moved. I turned almost 90 degrees each way. The arrow on the hub is 12 oclock and the number one cylinder valves are iin two different positions. so I think is right???? I can see the valve in the the guide of the cylinder head that the seal sits on . If the valve did drop does it fall all the way down (out of sight) or does it do what happened to me Thanks

If the hub is at 12 and #1 valves are not both in the same position (closed), then the hub is not indexed correctly. I can't see how you could not have noticed this when starting at #1. Unless your hub has spun since you started, I don't know what is really going on.
1 and 6 travel up and down at the same time, so 180° of crank travel would put them right back where they were. Something is not right somewhere.
