Help, popping noise when I open my door is driving me nuts!
OK so ever since I brought my car it has always heard this annoying pop noise that I woud hear every time I would open the passenger side door. I figured what the heck you know, older Chevy's did do that sometime. I thought maybe greasing the door and had some ideas that I tried but nothing seemed to work. So I'm like what the crap you know. Well, one day I noticed one part on the door and on the front fender panel where the paint had rubbed off. Well, that is when I tried a little experiment. I open the door and watched that part and sure enough it did some thing like a small popping like motion.
Well, I'm not sure if anyone can notice it on the pic but you can see the small I guess you call an indent line that runs under the Z28 symbol is misaligned with the door. The rest of the car is fine it is just that front fender on the passenger side is misaligned. I was wondering does anyone know any possible way to fix this? It really bugs me and it serves no point to paint the car with a problem like that.
Thanks for the help,
Chris

The bolts at the door hinge will allow you to move the door back toward the jam and away from the fender. I can't remember if its the side on the door or the side on the car that you have to loosen. It will only require about 1/8" of movement. Large movements are not good for a couple of reasons. One reason is the light switch. If you move too far you will have to readjust the light switch. Another reason is it will hit the back jam. It will require something to sit the door on for support and probably one other person to help. Scribe lines around the hinge before you loosen the hinge so you have a reference point to go by.
