help is my engine done?
hey well i have a huge story that ends with well what seems to be a broken internal and it goes like this: a while back ago i notcie all the sudden my car was missing and starting to shutter at low rpms and was really falling on its face. I just did wires and plus so i decided to do the opti. When i took the opti off i noticed the cap and rotor were both severly messed up. However i bought the whole opti spark brand new. ne way my car starts up after lots of work(water pump driveshaft snapped in half when putting water pump on and one of the crank's hub's ears came off when tryng to pull it off to get to the timing cover(big mess)) and starts running choppy. The next day the car runs and actually is smooth, then later on falls on its face again. The whole day i drive it and it does this. Sometimes its so smooth and nice i feel i fixed then it barely even wants to move. It almost felt like someone was pouring dirt in my optical eye of the opti once in a while, which made no sense since it was brand new from a dealer sealed cap to opti and i put sealant aorund it for extra measure. Finally im on the highway driving home and i see a supra, my car is runing good at the point so i floor it and rev up next to him. Then all the sudden my car falls on its face, but this time the sound of the car missing and **** is a lot louding and the car is shaking violently, all the sudden it gets real loud and sounds like metal rubbing and there is smoke puring out behind me, so i pull off the to shoulder and see im leaking oil everywhere( i just broke my oil psi sensor putting in a new tranny and never replaced it so i couldnt tell my oil psi). ne ways tow the car home and notice the oil is leaking somewhere above the oil filter. not from the oil filter, not from the oil psi sensor behind the motor, not from the bolt in the pan, not even from a spark plug
lol. then i notice i have a ton of oil still left so its not a dry rub problem. i did start the car again and it sounds like hell(like i threw a bearing?)!!! real bad. then for **** and giggles i took that driver side valve cover off and noticed the inside was all brown and burnt. my car has never been touched as far as i know in the inside, and has never seen above 210 degrees ever, with only about 100k miles on it. Now is that top of head looking burnt mean something, and has ne one heard of ne thing like this? i need some pros to help me out please. I feel like im dumping money into my car and its blowing up on me. Please if ne one has a hunch or knowledge just give some imput as im befuddled and have no clue where to start.

Re: help is my engine done?
The first thing that I would do is drain the oil and look for metal or some foreign material in the oil. Then, find out where the oil was pouring out of and get back with us.
Re: help is my engine done?
well i used a little round magnet to dig around the bottom of the pan i caught the oil in and a little thin layer of oil shavings caught around the outside of the magnet. Is that enough to be damage? One o fmy friends had a theory that the cooler line above the filter came loose and caused me to loose psi, but i cant even see the lines?
Re: help is my engine done?
Did you mean a little thin layer of metal shavings? I don't think that there should be significant enough wear to allow you to pick up metal in your oil. That could quite possibly be a problem. You're not seeing the lines becaue not all of the LT1's had oil coolers. You would see them around the oil filter if you had one. Did you figure out where the oil was coming from? Are you sure you didn't break a rod and it put a hole in the oil pan or the block somewhere? Maybe someone else can jump in here and comment.
