Help me pick a cam...

I want to start off with that I have searched and studied cams, I am just not sure on what a good cam is for my needs.

First off mods:
K&N FIPK, 1LE elbow, ported/polished heads (flow 260/195 @.6), hooker longtubes, offroad ypipe, cutout, electric water pump (CSI), 1.6 GMPP rockers, chromoly pushrods, LT4 hotcam springs, 2500 stall, fully built a4 tranny good to 550 rwhp/550 rwtq, Hals, 30# SVOs, racetronix fuel pump kit, MSD ignition box, stock coil, taylor wires and NGK plugs.

I believe that is it. Now this very same setup minus the injectors, fuel pump and igntion box/coil put down 340rwhp through the stall running really lean and with the LT4 HOTCAM. I don't want to reuse the Hotcam.

I mainly street drive, but I od go to the track at least 2 to 3 times a month. I would rather have a lot more mid-range power rather than top end power. I would also rather have a nice smooth torque curve on the dyno rather than peak numbers. I do want the car to lope, so I would be willing ot give up a little on the power side for the lope sound.

So what cam would you recommend? CC306? GM847? XE230/236?
Thanks

With all that work done, it would be a shame not to put a custom cam in there that's made for your heads and other components.

Really, so just have a custom ground cam? Who would I need to get in touch with to have a cam ground? And will it make more power going this route?

You will need different springs too, and maybe lifters depending on the cam. A better timing chain may be needed too, but that is regardless of cam.

There are a few guys on here that make great custom cams. I would suggest a search on the words custom cam or custom grind something like that.

A couple of the guys are, I believe:
Jon Overton
and Brett Bauer
I may have spelled those names wrong.

if you want a custom cam i suggest bret from bauer racing he's a member of the board as SStrokerAce. He's a sharp guy, he'll ask you a lot of questions to help him fine tune the valve timing. I did business with him for a buddy of mine with a big block. Not only did the idle improve drasticly but the car picked up .3 over its previous best when it had a larger cam. Anyway if i was you i'd shoot him an email he can probably get you what you want if anybody can bret@bauer-racing.com is his email or send him a pm on here SStrokerAce should be his name on here.

Yeah, i am already planning on going with Comp R lifters and whatever springs I need. Should those GMPP 1.6 Roller Rockers work out alright.

I will PM Bret and do a search for custom cam.

before you buy any other parts like rockers or springs talk to bret if you've already got the rockers he probably wont recomend you change them.. but he's kinda picky what springs go on his cams. but he'll probably say the comp r's are a good idea for lifters.
