help me fix my heater problem
Are you sure the defrost is not working, check again. I have just fixed a leak in my vacuum system for the vent controls. I found that the system is defaulted to Bi-level. If there is a total loss of vacuum then the system blows feet and defrost. Maybe you didn't notice the defrost blowing. Let us know what you find and we can direct you. What I do know is most people have a problem with a vacuum leak that causes the vent system to default to bi level. In my case the leak caused the system to switch to bi level when I stomped on the throttle and that gave the appearance that the fans where slowing down. Turned out to be the bi level actuator hose had come loose and was leaking.
Most likely a vacuum leak to your controls.
Rob is correct, you have a vacuum leak. The engine vacuum is supplied to the climate control where there it is switched to 4 different actuators. Since none of yours are working you have a supply problem. Remember that the bi-level actuator is defaulted to the middle position. So you will get feet and defrost.
If you have a vacuum gage or a brake bleeder with a gage you can check 2 critical spots. One is the vacuum check valve located on the passenger side firewall near the PCM. You should have adequate vacuum there. If not check forward to the vacuum resevoir near the front right headlight. If that's ok, check the vacuum level at the climate control. It's not easy to get to though. Vacuum is brought into the climate control on the black hose.
