Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

I agree i should of tested teh fuel first but i really ahvent wasted to much cash. 70 ICM really only, everything else i had. Now i know there is a chance for my fuel filter but the odds are its my fuel pump correct? Remember i did change the filer only 2k ago.

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

Well I got my car back together today, (new msd opti, plugs, wires, hooker longtubes, electric wp), and it runs good. I haven't gotten that hard on it as I drove it to the exhaust shop and back (for y-pipe) but it seems to run good. I didn't try too much WOT, but I think the miss is gone. Will change oil tomorrow and fab an ABS cable extentions and might take it for a rip tomorrow night and see how it does.

Will report back then.

Well it goes up and down as it surges. It ranges from 41-about 35ish. I just got a fuel filter going to be throwing that on here today also.

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

Ok I installed the filter and took it out when the car was cold and it ran perfect! I mean holy crap i forgot how much power i had at top end. Well soon as the car got to operation temapture the problem resumed.

This is whats throwing me off why would the fuel pump only mess up at normal operation tempature?

This is why i was thinking it was the opti, but my pressure drops so....

I am kinda confused here I don't want to buy anything until i know the problem for sure.

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

well we were having the same problems. and i was really confused also as to why my fuel pump would only act up after up to operating tmep. that still does not make sense to me.
but i got the FP in this morning ( took me about 1 1/2 to do) drove the car around for a while, then did a few WOT runs. runs like a champ now.
before my idle was 35, now it is 41. and at WOT it is @45 whereas before it would drop down to @30.

Well thats good news the fuel pump solved your problem and brought up your pressure! What pump did you go with? Im really thinking of doing the trap door. Well looks like i have my solution.

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

well my new ignition (msd opti, msd wires, ngk plugs) is working great and no miss. But after taking appart my 60k stock ignition, everything was stock and simply warn. Car ran good but not perfect, missed up top, etc.

I however still have a stock fuel filter (still undercoated with the rest of the car). Its time I change that....

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

Another update, my racetronix kit is instaled with bucket and everything the way it was.

Car doesn't seeem to drop pressure now at wot(hard to see at night), but the car is still doing some surging at top end, doesnt seem as bad. Im going to drive it once tommorow in the daylight to see how she looks.

Maybe my opti and my fuel pump were both going bad?

Re: Help me figure out my misfire problem past 4700.

hmm, now i really think we are having the same damn issues. the fuel pump was the main cause of the topend miss.
but i still can feel a lil surge under WOT. only happens sometimes though. and my idle is choppy.
so i am also thinking opti.
i am going to wait to do that though, well unless it just goes out all of the sudden.

i was planning on putting a cam in. so i will just do it all at once.

About 500 miles on the msd opti so far, works good, tons of WOT pulls and 6k+.
