help!!! Knock?

Every now and then, My car feels sluggish. Usually after it warms up for a while. I will give it some gas, and it wont go nearly as fast as it usually does. It feels like knock retard. I have poly mounts(motor, and tranny), lts, 1.6 sa rockers, but also lt4 knock module. I dont have a scanner, and when I get it scanned, the guy doesnt drive it, he just revs it up, and it shows no timing retard. When I drive, the car has a lot of vibrations in it. Thats what makes me think it is knock retard causing this. I am going to get another computer tune, and the guy I go to who personally knows brian herter, said I should just delete the knock sensor. I would prefferably like to just heavily desensitize it. Any suggestions?

$200 laptop off of ebay and Datamaster. You need to understand what is going on with your car. You comitted enough to get a custom tune so go just a few steps further. Anything else is just guess work. If you have knock, there is an inherent problem going on you need to resolve.

I already checked it, and had it checked as well. the headers rub on the motor mounts a little, the rockers tap the centerbolts on the valve covers a little. I asked and he said both werent serious issues. I have some heavy driveshaft vibe. I know what the sources are, and know I have knock. I am also tired of spending so much damn money on this car. I dont have a mial order tune, just my shiftpoints changed, and speedo recalibrated. I still have an ses light for egr, and AIR delete. So my fans are constantly running, and temps never exceed 170 degrees. There is so much crap goin on under my hood its not funny. When I get my tune, Ill have those codes cleared, and am wondering if I should just desensitise the knock, or delete the damn thing all together.

You could have it de-sensitized, but I wouldn't remove it altogether. If your headers are rubbing the mounts and the rockers contacting parts of the valve cover, that could lead to issues of "false knock." I would get those two things fixed as they are not hard to do. The valve covers are easy to notch and the motor mount may either need to be trimmed with a grinder or replaced altogether.

Do as he says. You already have the LT4 knock module so it should be de-sensitized already fix the issues then check for knock.

Ill prolly get it desensitized. is there different levels of sensitivity that tuners can change the knock sensor to pick up, or is it only a little less sensitive than before the tune?

I desensitized mine by the use of resistors. There is a writeup somewhere as I did mine years ago. With the rebuild, my knock is gone so I pulled all that stuff off and run stock settings but get no knock.

Suggestion: fix your problems you have don't just try and get away with it by going the easy route of desensitizing...if that is even the issue.

Desensetizing with the resisters disables the ks from what I have read.

Ive had 3 different people, one of them a gm mechanic look at it, and tell me the same thing. its false knock. None of them have found anything that looks or sounds like legitamite knock. I have no missfire at all at any rpm. If I already have the lt4 km, will the tuners desensitizing, further desensitize the sensor, or will it remain the same?

You know whats funny is my car is the same way. When my car was bone stock it would pull a little knock on take off or between shifts. I think it would also just pull a degree or two at WOT. Since I had no money for mods I thought I'd desensitize the knock sensor. I put the resistors in and it worked and I had no more knock. Later on I returned it back to stock and now I never get knock. I can intentionally lug the motor and I never get a damn degree of knock. I also replaced the knock sensor and I still got nothing. Its weird, my car just never has knock anymore. When I look at the car on datalogs though it always has a high knock count but no knock. WTF. The knock sensor settings in the PCM are stock as well.
