Help installing MSD

Any advice on installing a MSD 6A ignition in my car? I'm sitting here looking at the instructions and I can't even figure out which diagram is for my car. Most of the booklet is troubleshooting and stuff, I'm just trying to figure out how to start installing the thing. If someone could get me started that'd be great. Thanks!

You should get a MSD harness for your car too. It makes install much easier.

Should be one of the first diagrams. Mine had one on the back of the box and that's what I used.

Page 15, top diagram. That's the way to do it for a 1997.

Thanks guys. One more question. There are two wiring harnesses I can buy, a universal one and another that says its for late model GMs. Does it matter which one I get? And is it a single connector coil thats in my car?

i installed mine just infront of the fuse box under the hood. the only wire i had to extend was the positive wire to the positive battery terminal. Get the harness it makes things pretty easy i put mine in in about 30-45 min including time for a couple of beers

I agree 100%
I noticed better drivability and yes the MSD harness makes install easier.BTW i bought mine used over 5 yrs ago and noticed that it is the older style(mid 80,s)
, no problems w/it at all.
