Help identifying a component on a '96 Trans AM

There is an electrical component attached with thos plastic tabs to the side of the air filter box.

It is about 4" square, molded plastic with an epoxy resin on the back

There are 2 seperate weather pack, multi-wire connectors attached.

I see no part number on it. However, the word "GUIDE" is molded into the plastic housing.

The 2 wiring looms disappear into the large loom coming from the electrical center just behind the air box.

What the heck is this thing?

It sounds like the headlight motor controler.

I'm wondering the same thing as my car has it too. Its not attached to anything though and I'm pretty sure its because I don't have the stock airbox.

Yes that would be your headlight control module.
