Question Help with Hotchkis lowring springs

Trying to install a set of hotchkis 1" lowering springs on my buddies Z. I've install eibach 2" (sportlines) on my 94 Z when I had it and I used the generic autozone tool to compress the spring. Well I'm having trouble with the hotchkis springs just going 1" cuz their coils are REALLY close to each other and I can't get the generic autozone tool between them. Anyone have any DIY suggestions how I can do this?

Quick responses would be much appreciated as the damn thing is sitting in my driveway half together. . .

Thanks in advance. . .

I had to pry and coax mine apart to get my puller between the coils. My Craftsman 3/4" cold chisel helped me with this.
