Help, died on the road...no spark

I have a 93 formula M6. Today I was driving and all of a sudden the motor quit. I pulled over and tried to fire it back up and it would turn over but wouldn't fire up. I got it towed back home and started troubleshooting. Basically what it comes down to is that there is no spark. I had autozone test the coil and that is fine, I replace the coil wire and that didn't help. The coil is getting power so I have kinda narrowed it down. I have been having a problem with a bad skip over 4k rpm for the last few weeks so I am hoping that this is related. So, whatcha think...opti? Could it also be the ignition control module? Any other possibilities? In the last few months I have put all new plugs in it, new wires, fuel filter, replaced the opti with a used one from Jay Short, intake manifold gastkets, and I moved the ignition control module away for the head. I just want to make sure that it is the opti before I go out and spend the $$$.
Thanks,
Chris

check the ignition control module, and make sure your plugged in at the opti, maybe clean the connection. Sounds like opti

Check for opti pulses.

I connected to the ICM plug and I got voltage on the outside 2 pins. Occording to the schematic I should have got voltage to the inside 2. I didn't try to get pulse from the opti because I didn't know if my pins are different than the schematic. Is there a differece between years?
Thanks,
Chris

That is what you should have gotten. Look at your plug. It is labeled A-B-C-D. A and D are on the outside. The schematic lettering is drawn for convenience of representation.

You said that the car IS turning over right?? Are you getting power to your interior gauges at all??

yeah, everything else works fine but there is no spark. I will check for pluses tomorrow but my meter doesn't have a very small range. It only goes 0-120V. I will see what I can do. So I will be checking pin B on the ICM for voltage when cranking, right?

my god man. I have the exact same car.. and the exact same problem. It just died, it wasn't getting spark because the tach wouldn';t move at all when I tried starting it. Had it towed in, it started righ up for them, so now I am replacing the coil, ICM, wires, plugs, and i am getting an ignition box, then, if my miss is still there (hopefully doubt it will be) I will put an opti on it. Good luck!

yeah, sounds like the same thing. I know that my coil is good, same with my plugs and wires. At least mine still won't fire so I can do some troubleshooting. Hopefully whatever is causing no spark will also cure the skip I had before.
Thanks,
Chris

ok, so I tested pin "B" and I got good voltage (1-4volts). So what does this mean?

Sounds like the ICM is getting the signal, so either ICM or coil is not doing the job. You might be able to get your ICM tested at a parts store.

I had the coil tested yesterday and they said that it was fine. Does this rule out the opti? I guess it could always be the rotor or cap right? I went to autozone but they couldn't test the ICM. It wasn't on their "list". Is there a way that I can test it?

Do you have an aftermarket ignition box. My Crane HI-6S took a crap on me when i was driving down the road. I gunned it and then was slowing down to turn and the tach was going crazy but the engine was acting normal, then the car just died and wouldn't start until we hooked the old ignition back up.

No, I have a stock ignition. I just would like to make sure that I know what the problem is before I dump a bunch of money on stuff. Anybody know a way to check the ICM?
Thanks for all the feedback so far!

follow this down. it will show you if there is a signal from the ICM to fire the coil. if yes it;s the coil. if not it;s teh ICM based on the other info I have seen in your post so far
