Unhappy Help with damaged Hypertech Programmer

OK, here's the story:
While changing the 9V battery on my programmer, I accidently broke the ribbon cable that attches the top cover to the bottom. I've tried uncessessfully to repair it. I wrote and e-mailed Hypertech and told them of my problem. No response at all. That was 2 weeks ago. I then called them and they basically told me I was SOL. Great customer service, huh? They said they no longer manufacture my programmer, part nimber 340752.
Without the top cover with the 4 buttons working, the rest of the programmer is useless. I need it repaired so I can program my car back to stock configuration before I sell it.
I even tried the local electronics store with no luck.
Any sugesstions? I'm even willing to "Rent" a top cover from anyone on this board to use for a day then return it.
Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Fred

Strange.

P/N 340752 is the current HPPIII programmer for 94 Camaro. They are in stock @ Summit, and are listed on Hypertech's website. Discontinued?

http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...art=hyp-340752

We have a number of HPPIIIs and none needed battery charging. They get power from the car when attached. All are '96 or newer cars, so maybe 340752 is different.

Hypertech has a limited lifetime warranty. I had the one for my Impala go toes up. They replaced it with a new one at no charge. I had not disassembled it however.

Maybe you could start again and tell them it doesn't work and ask what should you do.

Sorry, I don't have that model.

I have one of those and I'm glad I haven't had a problem with it so far because I have read a number of posts that repeatedly show the crappy customer support from Hypertech on their product. You summed it up when you said, "SOL".

I'll definitely remember this when making future purchasing decisions.

The truth is, Hypertech has the absolute WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! And I don't mean just in the automotive industry, but generally. I have yet to find a company that treated me or other people I know worse.

Anyway, the truth is, they told you that just so you leave them alone. They indeed discontinued the Plus model but the III they are currently making is just a newer Plus with a different case.
Marketing trick....
And speaking of cases, any cover from any model Hypertech (except the old, 2 button one) will work on yours. So make your own conclusions....

I had the battery in my car die while programming. I got a reprogrammed PCM and an upgrade from a HPP+ to a HPP3. but that was a few years ago now.

It seems that mine is just a Plus Programmer not a II or a III and requires a 9V battery to operate. Maybe something to with my 94 OBD I system??? It says in the instructions that the battery is only required in 1994 cars.

95s don't require a battery since they feed off the connector, but 94s do...

When I had the HPP+ with my 1997 it had a 9V battery connection inside that I had to use to take the thing inside and upload scans I had made with the scan cartridge into my PC.
