Question help with coil and igniton?

ok i got a 95 z. i am putting on a msd blaster coil part#8226, msd 6a ignition and msd wiring harness part#8876. ok i am running it to some trouble. my first question is when i took my stock coil off there was a bracket mounted to the coil that had a wire connection to it. the directions say nothing about removing it from the stock coil but if i leave it off there will be an open connection on my car. second question on my msd coil there is two conections and the harness that i got plugs into the factory wire right but the part that plugs into the coil it leaves half of the plug open and that what the diagram shows but is tht right to leave a comection open on the coil, but when i look at the diagram in the msd ignition booklet it shows to splice the wire and then the two conections are pluged but i don't have that plug or don't i need it. i called jegs and msd and they were not sure.

Not sure about the wiring because I have a single connector setup, but you will need to drill those rivets off to get the coil out of the bracket. Did it last saturday.

When I installed the 6A with harness to my stock coil, it left one of the connections to the coil open. Is the MSD coil exactly like the stock coil? I wouldn't splice a connector for the other side.

It should look like this when you are done. One side of the coil does not get a connector with the #8876 harness. The other single row, four wire connector is for the ignition control module that must remain plugged in.

Maybe not so much if you are not spraying or blown. The multiple spark is more beneficial under those circumstances. Just adding an aftermarket coil could provide some benefit to a pre 1996 car, since the older stock coils were said not to be much more than "adequate".

Neither of these things is something you might feel, but sometimes the MSD does add a little smoothness as some have experienced. I think it depends on the state of your existing plugs and wires as to what you might feel after install. A slight increase in gas mileage is a possible benefit.
