Angry Help! Car won't start.. errr..

I am not sure if it is the starter or something else, but when I put the key in the ignition and turn it over to start all power just goes away. The door chime, my stereo, lights, etc. It is a brand new battery and voltage is good on it. I have to pull the key out of the ignition and put it back, then I hear a relay pop and the power comes back. I did notice that on my way home yesterday that the car was running a little rough and the voltage was sitting around 12.9-13.2 volts.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

David

sounds like bad battery connections to me... happened once or twice but it might also be the ignition switch.

Well that would be awesome if thats all it is. I had to get a new battery about 3 weeks ago(stereo abuse and 5 years old). I am wondering about that purple goo that kragen told me to put on the terminals. Also the bolt type thing that goes through the cable into the battery is striped so I have use vise grips to get it on and off. Would kragen or someplace like it carry that piece?

Thanks!!! It was a loose connection to the negative. I think when we were testing for draws after replacing the battery we didn't tighten up the negative that well..

Thanks again,

David
