help with car tune, don't know what to do
Finally I start to figure out why my car has little power at high RPM's, burns lots of fuel, and basically runs like ****. Read my computer file with tunercat last night. Noticed interesting things:
Computer says I have Y body automatic car with 17" tires and 3.07 rear
WTF
I have an F body, M6, 16 " with 3.73 rear.
Moving along, I open ECM constants and I notice that I have:
2369.76 lbs/hr injector flow rate, which doesn't look right? I have SVO 30 lb/hr injectors. 2500 is maximum I can change, but I researched that it should be set at 31.7 lbs/hr
Then I open injector offset vs battery voltage table, and it looks totally stock. So I do a first change and enter a 31.7 injector flow rate and make rear end-tire adjustments. After I load the program up, my car runs like ****, all shaking. I shut it down and put back a previous program just with speed calibration changes, and closed loop temperature changes. Start my car up and start monitoring. It does go to closed loop
, and white smoke dissapeared from exhaust. I used to have closed loop temperatue to be setup at maximum so my car would never go to closed loop, and it burned lots of fuel with lots of white smoke coming from exhaust. When I take my car for a test drive, my speedometer stopped working. Needle keeps jumping up and down
.
I can email my tunercat file to anybody who's interested. I don't know what else could be wrong with my computer file. I guess that's what I got for letting a friend tune my car for free. If anybody would like to share their computer file with similar setup, I will be very thankful. I have 1995 m6 z-28, cc306, 30 lb/hr, stage II heads. Email to samot2@netzero.com . Probably any bigger cam file will work. Also, stock 1995 M6 file would help too.

Im no expert , but Id say your computer has been switched in your car at some point.
I think the rest of it is just bad programming.

The person who tuned my car borowed my computer, and gave it back after I finished all installing. Is there any way I could make my computer see my 1995 z-28 m6 car. I know it is a bad programming, trying to see how to fix it. I will take my car to the dyno tunning, but I don't know if they could fix my car.
Any place that has lt1 edit should be able to change EVERY aspect of the computer. I dont think they are vehicle specific besides programming at all. I bet your buddy used the comp in a vette (i think vettes are y-bodies) and forgot to change it back. Just take it to an expert and they can fix it , I bet it has the wrong vin number on it and thats why it thinks its a vette. You probably dont even need dynotuning to fix it , any of the mailorder guys can make it right for alot less that dynotuning , unless you plan to get dynotuning anyways. Dont let this friend of yours touch the comp again tho

Many times you can have a corrupt file and cause all sorts of weird things like that to happen. Might want to get a new base program from net and start over just to be safe.
To change from Y body and gears to F body settings, go to "tools" then "speed calibration" and select every thing you need, sand apply then ok it.

i bet what you are reading in the gearing and calibration table is the default settings. notice there are 2 charts.. 1 for current settings and 1 for new settings. put in your gearing, tranny, whatever else into the new table and see how close those numbes are to the ones in the current settings.
about the injectors.. i dunno what to tell you besides change it. email me the file to bradperkins@hotmail if you want another opinion.

I have a bunch of stock F-body files, if you want one to upload over the one you have I'll be glad to upload it to you, use Tunercat upload program www.tunercat.com & just upload one of my files if you want, just email me.
