i just got out of work and i noticed that my belt flew off. it isnt torn or damaged, and that is what scares me. i had to drive home without power steering or anything. the check gauge light was on, so was the ABS Inop, and my lights were real dim, also my speedo was going up and down. how is that possible if it is cable driven??? need help fast and i hope i didnt mess anything up. thanks in advance guys

 

Put the belt back on and everything will be OK. The lights you got were due to low voltage.

It shouldn't have come off though.

You've just used one of the nicest design features of the LT1 to get you home... a gear driven waterpump that keeps coolant flowing with or without a belt.

ohh and i think the belt flew off after i did a little burnout in the parking lot earlier, before i got off from work. i remember that i did a 180* in the parking lot then i felt the sterrign wheel yank and it didnt move as easily. but i just ignored it cuz i ended up in the parking spot i wanted anyway. went back inside and then i saw the belt hanging.

 

When you put it back on take a very careful look at all of your pulleys and make sure none are loose or wobbly. There's really no reason the belt should just get thrown off if everything is in proper working order.
