Help after electrical fire...

One of the wires that i had ran for an aftermarket gauge...got stripped and worn out, touched ground and started a fire inside the car. I had to stop on the side of the road...disconnected the ground for it, and everything seemed to be fine other than spots on teh carpet where the wire melted and some plastic panels that have melted spots on them. I drove the car home and everything seemed fine. Took out all the burned wires, replaced them, and zip tied everything out of the way. Go to start the car today and when i turn the key to start teh car, all power goes off completely. If i disconnect battery and connected it again...there's power again. But i'll go to turn the key and no power again.

I checked all teh fuses and relays. Any ideas on what's wrong with it?

Kinda sounds like a loose connection.

Well, if it is "all power" (no headlights, even), then it has to be a main cable-either at the battery or the positive or negative junction on the RH shock tower.

Yeah check the battery cables, I changed the coolant in my truck a few weeks ago and went to start it and it did the same thing. Look at the battery and the negative cable is about to fall off.

yes, as soon as i turn the key "all power" goes off...no headlights, no interior, no radio....all power cuts off...

does this have anything to do with the fact that it cuts out when i turn the key? Something loose on the key cylinder mechanism...could one of the wires under there be burned

like i said, i already checked all those places but still can't find anything
