Heater hose leak at firewall
Heater hose leak at firewall
I have a leak comming from one of the heater hoses that goes into the firewall on the passenger side. How should i go about reparing this? I searched and found some people cut the crimped metal with a dremel re replaced it with regular hose and clamp. Others said that they took of the restrictor and that fixed their leak. What is the restrictor valve and how would i remove it? I need to get this fixed tomorrow so ALL help is appreciated.
Re: Heater hose leak at firewall
Well do you have a dremel? Any of your friends have one? If so, this is the way to go. I have dremeled off all of my clamps in my car and replaced the hoses, and its worked just fine everytime.
All you do is dremel off the metal clamp on there, get a screwdriver in there to pry it off...its soft metal so its not a big deal to get it off. The metal is only like 1/8" thick, so you dont have to cut too deep at all.

Re: Heater hose leak at firewall
The restrictor valve is on one of the front hoses, so if the leak is by the firewall that won't affect it..
When you cut with the Dremel, don't go too deep at all [not 1/8", more like 1/16"] cut til you see black hose, and then stop[very shallow cut].. put screwdriver in, and twist to snap the crimped clamp off [saves cutting into the soft aluminum tube which if you do cut you got a prob]
Tricky to get to but doable.. I changed all the hoses on the car this way..
