Heater help

Well my heater isn't hot and I know nothing about heaters. I tried to get my heater fixed earlier this fall but it didn't work. I tried flushing the radiator, and the other hoses that go to and from the radiator. The heater is hot for a few seconds when it's first turned on but is cold after that. My car has no problem staying cool by the way. Do I need a new heater core? Is this quite a project to replace it? I know nothing about heaters and how they work educate me. Thanks for all the help. This website has been alot of help in the past, keep it up.

Re: Heater help

Do a search on flushing the heater core and you will get plenty of info. I just flushed my heater core this afternoon because I was having the same problem. Basically, unhook your heater lines from your waterpump and take a garden hose to the ends of them until clear water runs through both lines. This should fix your problem and don't forget to bleed the air out of the lines when testing or you will overheat your car.
