Heater Core Hose question
Like alot of people, I have no heat. I ordered a new heater hose but just part of it, the short hose coming off the water pump and the valve assembly. My question is, how do I connect them with that metal piece there? Or do I need to get the whole hose assembly?
Thanks,
Chris

uhmmm..I thought that part comes in one piece? hmm.. Aluminum line + hose. So you have a rubber hose but wondering how you attach that to the aluminum heater line assembly. Doesnt that **** you off about that heater hose. That Aluminum line is crimped to that factory hose. And then you wonder how you suppose to fit the hose to the Aluminum line but its difficuly bcuz the hose is smaller than the aluminum line, thats when Home Depot comes in handy! Plumbing Isle...lol. If your lucky, there's a lil bit of hose left on the line. That stupid hose having that plastic seperator which pressurize the coolant flow to the heater core is hella gay and that's what breaks. I have a heater hose that busted bcuz of that and I was thinking of getting a hose repair kit - aluminum kit fitting. You know what Im talking about..a hose repair kit. Anyhow, I have yet to do bcuz the weather is hot but it's easy. Pepboys has a heater hose repair kit as well as Kragens. Uhmm, you have a bit of hose left on that Aluminum line right?
Thanks guys for the info. shoebox your site is very informitive. I'm not sure what you mean by "Dremel off the swaged fitting", I know what a Dremel is, and I have one but not sure of the "swaged fitting"part. The 2 parts I have are part #'s 10188037 & 10188036..if this helps
Thanks,
Chris

He means, I think, that the connector 10188036 that connects the short hose 10188037 to the long hose 10188036 needs to be cut off with a dremel.
You will need to be careful. Cut it just enough to to pry the connector off i.e, don;t cut into the tube itself (which is easy to do.) Need to cut it length wise. Then just use a screw clamp to rejoin your new hose with the long hose.
Make sure you position the clamp so that you can easily get at it for tightening and removal. JMHO

I knew that because Shoebox helped me when I had to replace my hose at the fire wall where my headers decided to burn through my hose.
I also nicked the tube with the dremel. Thankfully it didn't bite all the way through, otherwise I would have had to replace the whole damn heater hose.
Just another testimony to Shoe's invaluable contributions to this site.

And...while I'm here let me say this about that.
There are members on this site .e.g. shoe, Injuneer, etal (we know who they are) that have contributed, unselfishly, for so long that I truelyl believe that they should get some kind of reward. I don't know what that would be, but I just want to say THANK YOU GUYS.
