heads w/ 230/236... AFR? LT4?
Hi everyone, I currently have a xe 230/236 112 (.544/.555 w/ 1.5s) waiting w/ comp r lifters, and gaskets needed. I just upgraded to ex components 912(?) springs good to .620 lift, comp cam pro mag 1.6 rr's, and hardened pushrods. I am about to order the lt4 timing chain and rest of the parts needed (new valve seals since i didnt do those yet, cant think of anything else?) and I was wondering what kind of head setup I should run w/ this cam. I was initially thinking of keeping stock heads. The more I think about it, the more I want to get upgraded heads. I can sell my core heads for 200$ on ebay easily, so that basically takes out 200$ of the cost of the new heads. I am currently thinking LT4 heads/intake just since It would only be about 400$ of my money (600$ or so on ebay -200$ for mine). W/ these lt4 heads/intake stock, how would this cam run? Would I be better off w/ the AFR? Patriot? I have heard of a lot of new companies w/ not much info on any of them. If I go w/ an upgraded head I will most likely keep them unported for at least a year, while i rebuild other parts and when I am ready, port them and get a 383 or 396 build up. This is why I want to change from stock LT1 casting heads. Any good ideas people?
thanks a bunch,
Eddy

With the LT4 heads you have to get a different intake if i recall. Check into www.totalengineairflow.com, they use that cam in their 11 second head/cam package. i have their ported LT1 heads sitting next to me actually. They look really good.
well yah, to use LT4 heads I know you have to buy the LT4 intake as well... that is how they come tho to buy them. I am wondering if LT1 stock castings can flow over 300cfm (even tho flow numbers really mean nothing) or if when I get my stroker I will be wanting more flow from my heads.
thanks
