I need general info on buying a ready to install heads/cam setup. My stock heads with very minor 5-angle valve job and port work is putting down 360 rwhp with a hot cam and the mods in my Sig. I want to go to either a GM847 or cc306 and some heads that will flow a lot better and have springs and rockers to work with the cam. What i mean is..is it more HP for the dollar to get new heads or max out the stock heads and put in sufficient springs and rockers? I will also replace my shorty's with long tubes and have the computer re-dyno tuned for the setup as well. The long tubes will need a custom y-pipe fitted into the current exhaust setup. What am i looking at price wise. I have no problem buying a used heads/cam combo that has a cam that works perfect and re-fresh the heads. Or i can just have the stockers maxed out, and while its in the shop have them throw in the right springs and rockers and then install. I plan on installing the heads and cam and long-tubes and then taking it down to the shop for the dyno tune and the custom y-pipe. I will do the dyno tune at Norris motor-sports as well as the y-pipe. What am i looking at price wise and RWHP. Sorry its such a long post but this whole 383 thing with a hot cam and stock heads is starting to bother me.

If you get the stock heads done up to their max potential and use a 306 cam or the GM847, your looking at around 435-450rwhp depending on long tubes, elec WP, tune quality, port job quality.....well alot.
But I think a better question above all would be for what amount of power is your goal?

Yea shes on the road alright. Before the DYNO tune when it was 314 rwhp I had trouble catching a evo doing a ricer fly-by, but I did catch him and reel him in slowly. Its up to 360 something now after the tune. Its a fast car....135 comes pretty quick, but I got bit by the HP bug. I want heads and a cam to throw me way up there on the rwhp mark. After heads and cam come rear-end and driveshaft. After that its all good. If I follow through with this deal then do you want dibs on my hotcam stuff? Looking forward to catchin you sometime

From a DIG....hah. Yea you will rape me thru 1st and into second. Remember when that LS'1 raped you up top...yea de-ja-vu (sp?) is coming to ya. LOL. My car really flys mid and high rpm's. I still got the bald tires on there.....

If I was you I would be very upset with only 360 to the wheels with a 383 car. My buddy Mark has the hot cam and LTs and it's a M6 car too and he dynoed 364rwhp.... I told you that cam was too small for a 383, I am surprised that Mike actually allowed that cam to go in the car, hah, and if Gary put it together for you I am even more surprised that he put that small of a cam in.

Yea the rwhp is low...i know. If it wasnt i wouldnt do heads and cam. Im just going to do this to really jump me up there. Im going to have to do the rearend and driveshaft soon enough. Im going to keep stock gears beacuse i need fuel economy as much as i can. Later
