Watch several cycles of the light b4 you line up. This will cut down on timing errors.

Coming from someone who s**ks at the track... Start your launch when you see the last yellow light go. By the time you react the green will be lit. If you have an M6 and street tires, only rev to 2K and quickly ease out the clutch as you give it more gas. Dropping the clutch and flooring it will only light up the rear. Launching is way harder than driving aggressivly on the street. From my experience and stellar times, bogging down a little is faster than burning out.

Don't get too frustrated and have fun. I've never been satisfied with my times, but I have fun getting better.

yeah i was aware of my reaction time so i was planning on going when the third yellow illuminated. i know i will skrew this **** up but thats ok. i am on street tires but they are good ones. i can't turn them over unless i drop the clutch. i am not expecting great times with my car being mostly stock. all i have is an air foil, flowmaster muffler (not cat-back), a different catalytic conv., and a slightly modded factory airbox. yes, its an M6. i will just see how it goes. i do have one question though. do the times start right when the light turns green or when you move or take off?

The timing starts when you break the starting beam. So basically no it doesn't start on the green light, it starts when the car moves and stops when the car breaks the beam at the 1320 mark. Good luck and have fun! It is a blast!

yeah, I know. But your reaction time is shown while you're going down the track. At least that # hasn't been higher than my ET... close though

you'll run your slowest times your first ever drag run if you don't know how to launch...

i smoked up the grandstands for 1st and most of 2ed gears

call me crazy but some people who have an auto (may not apply to you) like to manually stall their car up, they hit the gas and brake right up until the point right before the tires break loose. for me i found the complete opposite works better, the car launched much harder off idle..maybe thats just me take that as you will

well i am back from the track. your right, it was a blast. my first run i had a 2.239 60 foot time and a 14.264 1/4 time @ 99.08. second run was 2.302 60 ft. time with a 1/4 time of 14.326 @ 98.85. i noticed that every time i shifted into 4th, it fell on its face. i can just feel it bog when i hit 4th. i think my valves need adjusted, but i don't have a darn clue how to do that. with my 6-speed, i was hoping to get to 100mph. oh well, i had a great time and i was quite impressed with my times considering i am not the best driver with the stick and those were my first two runs at the track ever.
