Which headers for lowered e-tested car?

Hey,

Which company makes the best quality, easiet to install headers that will pass emmissions and not get ripped off going over a speed bump! My y pipe has a scratch or two in it now.

Thanks

I see you've got two cars in your signature...which car are they going on? Dual cat or single? I like my SLP's, but I probably wouldn't go with the dual cat ones.

AS&M are great mid length headers. My car has BMR lowering springs which lowers the car about an inch and the Y pipe never scrapes. The ground clearance is just like stock. Good luck.

Do the Rk's use the factory y-pipe?

Did you notice an improvement in exhaust sound?

Re: Which headers for lowered e-tested car?

they come with another y-pipe that'll bolt up
also, i don't have them yet
i'm debating between them and getting a rifle (in the military, it always helps to practice more)
but the one thing you have to worry about rksport is the horrible customer service and they're usually backordered
you might pay a little extra by using thunderracing but atleast they can get them to you i'd think
heard it's a good quality product though, just seeing if i want to spend more money on my car right now

I just installed the RK's and it wasn't that bad. I got them in about a week and a half after ordering them. I just wish the y pipe came coated. Other than that, they look killer!

Where did you order them from? What kind of $? How is the spark plug clearance? Any problems bolting the y pipe up to the cat? I assume the headers were coated then?

Thanks

I ordered them from TByrne when they had a exhaust sale last month. They shipped straight from RK Sport. Spark plug access isn't really any worse then the manifolds. I don't think they will bolt up to the cat because the Y-pipe has a 3 bolt 3" header flange so you wil have to have a flange welded onto your cat. I converted from dual cats on my 96 so I just ordered a carsound 3" high flow cat and am going to have it a flange welded onto it. Look at the TByrne website and they have a picture of the headers. And yes the headers are coated but the y-pipe isn't. I think it was right around $570 shipped for the headers and y-pipe, but that was the sale price.

i was really impressed with my mac's. For the money, quality, ease of install, and performance you can't beat them. I am going LT's right now so i don't need the macs any more. I need to start selling a bunch parts i have and put that money into my blown 355 build.
