Headers or Gears first?

I currently have 2.73's in my A4, but im worried about putting gears in since im already getting low 2.1 60' times and dont want gears to possibly make it worse, cause 2.1 is pretty good for my pretty much stock lt1...

So its either that or headers... I need help with this decision

No brainer...headers. It will compliment any engine mods.

I vote gears and a good stall converter. As long as you are running good tires your 60 foot times should improve greatly.

With a 2.1 60 ft that's pretty good, I would forsure by the headers first

gears will make you quicker and youd be out $500

headers will free up power, sound bad ***, increase fuel economy and youd be out the same $500.

id go with headers

LOL, well there is not really a price comparison, I always say if your going to get something done, get it done right the first time, so here's the price difference.......

Gears will not be over $400.00

HLT's Jet coated-$500.00
Over the vlave cover Plug Wire kit $100.00
True Duals $500.00
or y-pie to cat-back $600-700
NGK TR-6's $16.00

So all in all if you want your **** done right on the headers it would end up being around $1200.00

So if your tight with money and you cant afford to have mods done CORRECTLY then go with gears.....

But then again if I was to buy gears I would buy a whole new Strange 12-bolt w/3.73's and 33 spline axles and a spool, detroit locker and a t/a rear end cover, but thats just my preferences.

with $250 used SLP headers and a complete tune up just about (OVC wires, plugs, O2 sensors) it cost me $501 to put headers on my car (not including any cat back). If your going with LT's you can expect to spend $500-$550 on headers, and an extra $150-$200 on either a Y-pipe or true duals (if you make em yourself) so your talking about $950 or so total.

headers - $450

gears/stall - $5-600

but with gears and stall you need some et streets to hold traction and you also have to beef up your rear more to handle the pressure...

the gears and stall will have more of a diff. on your car... but will be more pricy and more involved because of what i mentioned above...

if you have about $1500 to kick around... get stall/tires/gears and work up the rear with some good parts at least... or go for the moser 12 bolt ($2500 )

but if your just looking to spend $500 or less.... i vote headers

I would say headers. I got my SLP shorties used for 250 and got them installed for 250. So in all, I spend $500 for my headers which is a lot cheaper than usual.

OR you could have gotten some used longtubes and a y-pipe with a cutout, installed em yourself, and spent $450

I still don't see why everyone is so against shorty headers. They worked great for me. I know for a fact it wasn't a 7 hp gain like people say on here. A lot more than that. The headers I got were already Jet Hot coated, so for 250, I had to get them. Was a bargain.

im not bashing shorties, tho longtubes are better.

if i WAS bashing anything... its that you spent money NOT putting em on yourself and buying other/different/better/more/ go-fast parts
